Remembering Frank Knight

AromaPrime's former owner, Frank Knight, passed away peacefully on 27th September 2025.
Frank developed several iconic scents in the 2000s, many of which are still used by major attractions. These included Egyptian Mummy, Rotting Flesh, and a T-rex Breath odour commissioned by the Natural History Museum. Frank put a lot of time into researching to get the scents right. For the Natural History Museum project, he was informed by paleontologists, and when recreating odours for zoos, he was sent otter poo and jaguar urine as references!
In 2002, Frank worked on a fragrance called Kylie's Breath, which accompanied a figure of Kylie Minogue at Madame Tussauds. He also supplied a coconut scent for the travel agents Lunn Poly (now TUI), and he developed a Hell odour for Thorpe Park. An avid football fan, Frank launched a set of football Aroma Cubes which included the scents of the pitch, pies, changing rooms and trophies.
Many of Frank's brilliant projects made international headlines, and in 2004, his portrait was illustrated to accompany an article about him in The Wall Street Journal. This article describes Frank's earlier roles as an insurance salesman and a taxi driver, and his time selling air fresheners to Fred Dale, the founder of Dale Air (AromaPrime). Frank would proceed to buy Dale Air in 1999, and he expanded the business until 2010.
We at AromaPrime would like to share our condolences with Frank's family and friends.
